A cheque for £12,500 was recently presented to the CLIC Sargent cancer support charity by Simon Blaxill, managing director at Kent Blaxill, at the company's headquarters in Colchester.

The money was raised by Kent Blaxill staff, customers and suppliers in two events – a sponsored 175-mile cycle ride and family fun day – which were both held to mark the company’s 175th anniversary.

Mr Blaxill said: “CLIC Sargent was chosen as our charity for the year due to the fantastic support it was giving to a young employee with cancer, 22-year-old Anthony Kinsella. Sadly Anthony died in August, but the charity remains very close to our hearts.”

Accepting the cheque on behalf of CLIC Sargent, Karen Roberts, fundraising manager, added: “In 2012 CLIC Sargent supported 198 families in Essex alone and none of this would have been possible without the support of the local community and local companies. We would like to congratulate Kent Blaxill on its 175th anniversary and thank everyone involved in raising such a fantastic amount.”
