Staff, suppliers and customers at Selco Cardiff displayed their golfing prowess to raise more than £5,000 for charity.

More than 80 players took part in the golf day fundraiser at Llanishen Golf Club, which was organised by Selco’s Cardiff Llanishen branch.

Twenty teams teed off looking for glory in the Texas Scramble format and Jarman Garden Services, captained by former Cardiff City defender Lee Jarman, took the overall honours.

It was the second time that Jarman’s team has reigned supreme having won the competition last time out in 2017 – but it was a close affair this time around with five teams tied on the same score at the clubhouse and the outcome decided on countback.

The event raised a whopping £5,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which has been Selco’s nominated charity since 2012.

The business has raised more than £700,000 for Macmillan over the seven-year period.

Rhys Pritchard, Shop Floor Manager at the Cardiff Llanishen branch based at Parc Ty Glas, said: “It was a fantastic event and we were delighted to raise a total of £5,700.

“We had great participation from the branch staff and suppliers who travelled as far afield as Kent and Birmingham.

“We’ve already booked the course for next year, so I hope this is an event which can continue to grow.

“Macmillan is a terrific charity which does so much good work for people with cancer and their families.”

There was a hole-in-one competition on the day with the prize of a Peugeot van, donated by Robins & Day Newport.

Cardiff Llanishen branch manager Peter Jones almost won it – but the ball rolled agonisingly wide. Robins & Day vowed to return next year with another top prize.
