More than a thousand tradespeople and members of the public are set to descend on The Barn at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, for the Huws Gray Giant Trade Event on April 17.

Former Wales and British Lions captain Sam Warburton will be in attendance, along with 60 of the top names in DIY and construction, including Makita, Dickies and DeWALT.

Huws Gray now has around 100 branches following an unprecedented period of expansion which has seen them become the largest independent builders’ merchants in the UK.

Marketing Manager Dafydd Hughes says the trade show is an opportunity to celebrate their success while giving account holders and visitors a platform to network and reward valued and loyal customers for their support over the years.

He said: “This event has been 18 months in the making and is set to be the biggest trade exhibition North Wales has ever seen.

“Over the last few years we’ve held smaller sales days at different branches across the region, but nothing like this, where hundreds of people will come together under one roof.”

“Eirias Park is the home of rugby in North Wales, it’s the perfect location for such a huge event and fitting that we have one of the country’s greatest ever players with us on the day to meet fans and help us to promote the industry.”

Huws Gray will hold competitions and give away big prizes on the day; the first 1,000 people to register to attend online will receive a product pack of DIY materials worth more than £20.

Those who register will also automatically be included in a prize draw to win a brand new £5,000 kitchen including Samsung appliances and a tap and sink supplied by Franke, the UK retailer.

“The company is growing and growing but Huws Gray will always be at the heart of the community,” said marketing officer, Chris Roberts.

“This is the first gathering of its kind in the sector in North Wales, so we are really looking forward to it.”

Colwyn Bay Branch Manager Tom Evans added: “As well as staff from other bases there will be a team from our store, so there will be a few familiar faces at the event for regular customers.

“We are looking forward to what will be a unique opportunity to bring together our customers and supporters from across North Wales, as well as welcoming those who may want to find out more about the work we do and the services and products we provide.

“There will also be a free hog roast and lots of other activities, so it should be a day to remember.”
