MKM Building Supplies is bringing luxury to Sheffield’s building sector with the launch of a new showroom.

The company has invested £30,000 in launching a luxury bathroom showroom at its Sheffield North branch on Rutland Road, as well as extending its existing kitchen showroom.

The development will feature bathrooms from MKM’s own Instinct range, which have been commissioned to combine outstanding designs with the product quality the company is known for.

MKM has also extended its range of classic and contemporary kitchens, which are supplied by South Yorkshire manufacturer, the Symphony Group, in an exclusive deal with the builders’ merchant.

Dave Beach, branch manager at MKM Sheffield North, said the showroom not only extended the product range on offer in the city, but also brought a level of expertise to the branch not found at other builders’ merchants.

To help trade and retail customers get the most out of the space they have available, MKM Sheffield North employs a team of experienced, home design specialists to work in the showroom.

Mr Beach said: “Sheffield has a fantastic construction sector and one that we have been proud to serve for the past decade. MKM’s success has been built on always moving forward and that is what the showroom represents. We are bringing a wider, more inspirational choice of products in branch and making them more accessible to trade and retail customer alike.

“We will always supply all the materials needed by the trade, but by creating the showroom we now supply the type of high-quality interior furnishings that makes a house a home. We’re confident the showroom will be a big hit.”

Sheffield North is the 11th branch in MKM’s national network to be fitted with such a showroom since the mid-2014, with many others in the pipeline to be completed this year.

Joint-founder and executive chairman of the Hull-headquartered business, David Kilburn, said the launch was part of a wider strategy of product expansion and specialisation at the company, which also includes roofing, landscaping, plumbing and heating.

Mr Kilburn said: “We have made a significant investment in our kitchen and bathroom ranges and that has already led to an increase in sales. The success of the strategy lies in the quality of the products combined with the expert designers that we employ in every showroom.

“This type of knowledge specialisation is being replicated across many of our branches and product areas as it enables us to give maximum value to customers.”
