The managing director of Plumbase marked the opening of a new kitchen and bathroom showroom with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the York branch, raising just over £200 for charity.

The public joined local tradespeople at the Plumbase site on Fawcett Street for champagne and canopies. Local suppliers donated prizes for a raffle, raising funds for Cancer Research UK – the Plumbase charity of choice.

Guests had a sneak preview of the new showroom that stretches over 3,000 sq ft, incorporating a revamped bathroom area as well as a new kitchen offering.

At the heart of the showroom is a fully working kitchen, specially designed to offer cookery demonstrations with the latest steam ovens, induction hobs and Quooker boiling water tap. It is complemented by a vast range of designs and accessories, so that customers can mix and match to suit their own taste and style.

Twenty bathroom displays showcase the latest designs including a wide range of wetrooms and showers, as well as tiles, flooring and accessories. The hero of the display is a bath with Bluetooth capability for music lovers.

A dedicated easy access living area for the elderly and wheelchair users incorporates a contemporary kitchen and bathroom, demonstrating that practical care needs can be met without compromising design and style.

Plumbase York is one of several new showrooms that are being rolled out across the UK this year, combining Plumbase expertise with leading manufacturers. The concept is designed to encourage the trade to take their customers, so that they can choose for themselves from the wide range of kitchens and bathrooms available.

Andrew Arnold, Plumbase’s divisional showroom manager for the North and Scotland, said: “We were delighted to see so many new and familiar faces to the opening, which is the finishing touch to what has been several months of hard work to create a showroom we can be proud of.

“It’s beautifully designed so that tradespeople can be confident in bringing their customers. Of course, consumers are also welcome on their own and can benefit from our trade expertise and installation knowledge. This marks an exciting new phase for the team and we look forward to welcoming more people through our doors. We’d like to thank everyone who came along to support us.”
