The Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants has installed Andy Williamson as its new Master, together with other Court Assistants, during a ceremony at Plaisterers’ Hall.
The afternoon started with a formal ceremony in the Court where four new Liverymen - Carl Platt, Steve Duke, Paul Pamment and Steve Halford - were welcomed to the company.
Following this, the Master-Elect, Andy Williamson, together with the Wardens and other officers, was installed for the ensuing year. The ceremony also acknowledges the role of other Court Assistants.
Andy Williamson is Commercial Director at SIG UK. He is well known to many in the industry having spent over 30 years as a supplier to the merchant sector. He joined SIG in June 2020 as part of a new management team.
His former roles include Group Managing Director of IKO plc, and Director of Digby Stone. He recently became Chairman of the BMF’s newly formed Insulation and Dry Lining Forum.
Following the installation ceremony, the Master and Wardens welcomed Liverymen, Freemen and guests for a champagne reception, and, later, a white tie dinner gathering with over 200 guests took place in the Great Hall. Music was provided by the London Banqueting Ensemble.
To mark the Company's new affiliation with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Squadron Leader Mark Sugden, Commanding Officer of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, was guest speaker for the evening.
