Staff wanted to “give something back” as part of the celebrations to mark its 20 years milestone in 2024.

Talasey - one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers of landscaping solutions – has reached its target of completing 20 different charity fundraising activities and acts of kindness during its 20th anniversary year.

Staff decided that they wanted to “give something back” as part of the celebrations to mark its 20 years milestone in 2024 – and, in doing, so has raised nearly £7,500 in cash and also made product donations to charity landscaping projects and also donated toys for a Christmas appeal.

Talasey already supports two charities: Perennial (the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture, and their families, when times get tough) and Band of Builders (a registered charity that completes practical projects to help members of the UK construction industry and their families who are battling illness or injury) - but the team set their sights on doing more in 2024 for national, trade industry and local charities including The Salvation Army, Children In Need, the Maddie Rose Charity, Movember and Forge, a local homeless charity.

Marketing Director Rebecca Hughes said that the Talasey team had exceeded all expectations of the amount of money they would raise when they embarked on the charity support drive at the start of the year.

“As Talasey turned 20 in 2024 – it’s been a time to reflect on just how far the business has come - from a standing start to becoming an industry award-winning company that is firmly established as one of the leading independent suppliers of landscaping solutions in the UK,” said Hughes.

“Rather than just focusing on the self-congratulation of what we have a business have done to reach the milestone, everyone at Talasey is very grateful for all the help and support we have received from the merchant and landscaping industries every step of the way.

“So as part of our celebrations, we wanted to go above any beyond our existing charitable partnerships and give something back to other good causes as well. We also wanted to devise a range of activities so that there was something for everyone to get involved in - so that everyone at Talasey felt that they were all pulling together.”

Activities have ranged from a team from Talasey taking part in Essex-London Bike Ride, organising collections for the foodbank for a local homeless shelter, to giving up alcohol for month during Dry January.

A team from Talasey also took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge and another team took part in Dragon Boat racing organised by Jewson, Talasey even supported a local girls’ football team, the Epworth Colts.

They also took part in Red Nose Day, held coffee mornings and did Secret Santa with a twist – rather than buying colleagues gifts this Christmas all staff donated presents to the Salvation Army.

Hughes added that the level of benevolence and the money raised for so many good causes has brought the Talasey team even closer together – which bodes well as the company looks to the next 20 years of grow.

“There is a genuine sense of accomplishment and a feel-good factor running right through the Talasey team after what has been an amazing year on so many fronts for the business,” she said.

“We’re rightly proud of what we have done and the money we have raised.”
