Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions, through its brands British Gypsum and Isover, has launched a new platform for the construction industry called Building Better.
Building Better is all about constructive content. It is an educational, informative and entertaining platform designed to help, guide, and encourage architects, specifiers, housebuilders and building contractors as well as the wider construction sector.
The platform aims to provide the industry with a funnelled source of knowledge and information, enabling conversations around sustainability, traceability, diversity, design and technology, skill-building, and beyond.
Managing Director of Saint Gobain Interior Solutions, Dean O’Sullivan, commented on the launch: “As an industry, our focus should be on building better. Whether through better architecture and design, better skills and workmanship, better technologies, or better opportunities – we should all be aiming to make progress in terms of providing a better, more sustainable future for generations to come.
“Our purpose in Saint-Gobain is making the world a better home. This is why we wanted to create a new platform that should help the construction sector. One that goes beyond commercial communications to bring our community a wider breadth of content from across the industry. One where the important topics of the day can be highlighted and discussed, with contributions from diverse voices from across the UK construction sector.”
Building Better is a whole new channel dedicated to helping the construction profession build towards something better. Found on YouTube, the weekly videos provide insights, ideas and inspiration, new technologies and new techniques, and all the tips, tools and techniques to make every space a success – and also celebrate those successes.
Hosted by architectural designer and television personality Charlie Luxton, the first chapters of episode one, which explores the construction industry skills gap, are already live and new episodes are released every Thursday, with a new podcast episode released monthly on Spotify.
Anthony Frayne, Customer Engagement Manager at CITB, who features in episode one, commented on why they got involved: “We’re really happy to have worked on the project. It is vital that more people understand that a career in construction is enjoyable, highly skilled, well paid and provides genuine progression opportunities that other sectors do not. People don't know what they don't know and the more aware they are of what a career in construction actually entails and the rewards they can get.”
While the first episode focuses on the skills gap and features organisations such as CITB, future episodes will explore other challenges within the construction industry.
You can subscribe on YouTube and Spotify directly, keep an eye out for new episodes on the British Gypsum and Isover social media channels or sign up for the newsletter on the Building Better Hub, which is also the home to other blogs and articles: www.saint-gobain.co.uk/building-better-hub
