STARK Building Materials UK has appointed Sabrina Passley as its Head of Sustainability.

Passley brings more than 16 years’ experience working in the industry, having held roles in customer reporting and product innovation at Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland.

In her new role, Passley will oversee and implement STARK UK’s sustainability initiatives across all operations, ensuring they align with STARK Group’s sustainability framework. This includes launching a UK-wide training scheme, equipping every employee of STARK UK with training in sustainability, as well as creating more than 30 sustainability ambassadors who will be experts in the latest products, regulations and best practice, based in every branch across the country.

Speaking about her appointment, Passley said: “It’s important to have people placed throughout the business who advocate for sustainable initiatives and ensure that we are heading in the right direction as we continue to move towards tighter building regulations, and our ambassadors will be key to making
change happen across the industry.

“I am passionate about collaboration, and this role will enable me to build strong relationships with our people, customers, suppliers and communities, which is crucial for advancing our wider sustainability goals. The industry faces many hurdles when it comes to sustainability, but there is also a real opportunity to be part of something unique and create a force for good.”

John Carter, CEO of STARK UK, said: “Sabrina has a wealth of experience dealing with both colleagues and our customers, and helping them to navigate changes in the industry. Thanks to more than 16 years in the industry, she has fantastic connections and is a trusted leader, which will be vital as we move to the next chapter in our journey.

“As a European business that is well versed in tighter regulations when it comes to sustainability, STARK Group has a deep understanding of the issues and opportunities, and is already bringing these learnings to our UK businesses. There are some incredibly exciting projects underway as we continue to transform our branches and business proposition.”
