The comedian will lead the procedings at this year’s celebration of the merchant industry’s achievements.
Comedian and presenter Rob Beckett has been announced as the host of this year’s edition of the Builders’ Merchants Awards, due to take place in London on 24 November.
Beckett, whose appearance at the event is sponsored by Wilson Brook, burst onto the comedy circuit 15 years ago.
As well as hosting All Together Now, he can be seen on TV alongside Romesh Ranganathan in Rob and Romesh Vs. He is also a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats, and the voice of Celebs Go Dating.
With his south London cheek, Beckett looks at the absurdities of the world, the quirks of his family life, and the strangeness of the middle classes.
He has co-hosted The Royal Variety Performance with Ranganathan, the first time two comedians had hosted the event together in over 30 years. He has also hosted Children in Need and Comic Relief.
Other TV appearances include BBC One’s Live at The Apollo, Would I Lie to You, The Graham Norton Show, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, A League of Their Own, Mock The Week, The Jonathan Ross Show, Celebrity Juice, and Taskmaster.
Beckett can also be heard alongside Josh Widdicombe on their highly successful podcast Parenting Hell through which they interview fellow parents. Guests have included Katherine Ryan, Bill Bailey, Joe Wicks, Jonathan Ross, and Kerry Godliman.
His book, A Class Act, is an autobiographical account of being working class in the middle-class world of television and comedy.
The Builders’ Merchants Awards – which return to the Park Plaza near Westminster Bridge in London – will once again bring together more than 800 members of the industry in a glittering afternoon of networking, celebration and fun.
The industry’s longest running awards ceremony offers the perfect opportunity to acknowledge some of best among the amazing people, teams, projects and innovations the sector has to offer.
A judging panel made up of 16 prominent figures will choose the finalists among all the nominees, and those who will ultimately become the winners of the 24 awards up for grabs this year.
