SCOTLAND: Port of Leith Housing Association (PoLHA) has been granted planning permission by the City of Edinburgh Council to build over 100 new homes at Western Harbour, Newhaven.
The site, at Lindsay Road, is due to go on-site next year, subject to funding. The work is expected to take around two years.
PoLHA recently opened a development of over 100 homes at Goosander Place. Keith Anderson, chief executive at PoLHA, said: "We are committed to the regeneration of both the traditional and new areas of Leith and the waterfront. The need for affordable housing continues to grow and it is important to provide sizeable developments of this nature."
The flats are being developed for both affordable rent and low-cost home ownership. A new spur road would also be built to the West of the site, to link it with other developments.
