With more than 25 years of experience, Payless offers a wide range of products, including bricks, landscaping, timber, tools.

Payless Builders Merchants based in Rochester, Kent, has joined National Buying Group (NBG), gaining enhanced buying power and increased business support.

Recognising the need for better deals and support to continue growing its business, Managing Director Kul Mattu and Director Ram Johal decided to join NBG. Already familiar with NBG’s reputation due to working closely with merchants and Suppliers connected to the group, Kul met with Phil Bonar, NBG’s Head of New Partner Development and Recruitment Manager.

Kul said: “We wanted a group that could provide better opportunities for our business while also offering the support and resources to help us succeed. We talked about this with Phil when he visited our branch and found very quickly that we’d be a good match.”

Beyond the enhanced buying power, NBG offers its Partners opportunities to collaborate, share expertise, and contribute to the group’s collective success. This includes attending regular regional meetings where business strategies and Supplier deals are discussed.

Kul continued: “Since joining, we’ve attended the South-East Regional Meeting, and it was a fantastic experience. Being part of a group where everyone’s voice is heard and valued makes a real difference. It’s a refreshing change to have such a transparent and inclusive process. The experience we bring to NBG is met with tools and opportunities that allow us and others in the group to grow together.”

Previously part of another buying group, Payless is the 10th merchant to join NBG in 2024, joining specialist roofing merchants, plumbing and heating merchants and landscaping merchants, among others.

Phil Bonar said: “Payless has really jumped into NBG with both feet which is great to see. They recognise that the benefits of NBG, such as the enhanced buying power, can’t simply be handed to them, but takes commitment from them. They’ve clearly shown they’re committed to their own success, and by extension, the success of NBG. I’m very much looking forward to seeing them grow as NBG Partners and watching their business get stronger and stronger.”
