Leicestershire-based merchant P&R Building Supplies has become National Buying Group's latest Partner.
Offering landscaping and gardening supplies, plumbing and drainage products along with general building supplies, family-owned P&R has been in business since 1983, supplying tradespeople out of its Coalville branch,and later expanding with a second branch in Loughborough.
Having not been part of a buying group before, the management team at P&R began looking into the prospect as their expansion led them to consider the future of the business. Recommendations from merchants and suppliers led Managing Director Lee Glover to meet with NBG’s New Partner Development and Recruitment Manager Phil Bonar.
Due to the demands of P&R’s expansion, Glover knew the business was not then in a position to commit to NBG, understanding that, to get the benefits of the group, partners must be fully invested through participation, sharing and collaboration with other members.
Glover said: “Although it was immediately clear that NBG was what we were looking for when we first met with Phil, we weren’t quite ready to make the leap. Phil kept in touch and visited the branch and when the time was right, we started the process officially.
“What we want now is to grow our customer base and product lines and, ultimately, our profits, and with guidance from NBG the path ahead is a lot clearer.
“We thought we were buying well before, but with NBG’s deals, P&R is buying even better now.”
Phil Bonar added: “Introducing merchants to the buying power of NBG is always a pleasure. P&R is a well-established merchant which was already growing under its own steam. We’re excited to see the team’s progress as they benefit from our deals and business support.”
