Stark Building Materials UK has appointed Simon Chard as Chairman of Normans, and Martina McGibney as Managing Director Designate.
The appointments are made as Stark UK further solidifies its position on Jersey, having secured the Five Oaks site for Normans and committed to having a visible and permanent presence in the heart of St Helier.
McGibney is a long-term Jersey resident and joins Stark UK and Normans from Woodside Logistics where she was Managing Director. Previously, McGibney was Managing Director of JJ Fox, having formerly held a number of senior commercial and sales leadership positions across the logistics and hospitality sectors.
Commenting on her appointment, McGibney said “I can’t wait to get started. Normans is synonymous with Jersey, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to build the business forward. Many of Normans’ customers and stakeholders are the very same people and organisations I have had the pleasure of partnering with in previous roles across logistics and hospitality, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues and industry partners as we invest in the island’s future – sustainably and together.”
Chard, who joined Normans in 2001 and was appointed as Managing Director in 2010, commented on the leadership changes: “I am delighted that Martina has joined Stark UK and will ultimately take over the reins as MD for Normans. She is the right person to lead the business into the next phase of its future growth and our strengthened position in Jersey.
"I look forward to working with her and in my new position as Chairman, a role that will give me an even greater opportunity to engage with local communities and stakeholders as we support and further the island’s economic and social prosperity.”
