Producer and supplier of aggregates, concrete, sporting materials, merchanting supplies, and waste management services, New Milton Sand and Ballast (NMSB), has joined National Buying Group (NBG) as a new merchant Partner.
Based in southwest Hampshire, NMSB includes a merchanting division and, with a view to accelerating its growth in this area, opted to join NBG for added guidance and support.
Having previously been part of another buying group, the leadership team at NMSB felt they needed help to facilitate their growth and wanted more opportunities to contribute to the way their buying group was being run.
Richard Froggett, Merchant Manager at NMSB, said: “The merchanting side of the business had grown to a point where we needed the support of an organisation like NBG. They have a fantastic reputation.”
One of the aspects of NBG that impressed Froggett was the One Partner, One Voice philosophy of NBG. He said: “We’re glad to be part of a group where people are willing to learn from our experiences and listen to our ideas. It’s a very democratic approach, like our own ethos.”
Along with NBG’s democratic values, the transparency regarding deals was another highlight for NMSB. Froggett continued: “When we were in the early talks about joining, we spoke with other NBG Partners to get their view. What really stood out is the level of transparency that comes with each deal – it means that everybody knows what’s expected of them and what they can expect in return.”
NMSB is one of three independent merchant to join NBG in recent months, along with Tunbridge Wells and Aylesford based Plumb 4 Less and Manchester and London-based Valves Instruments Plus Ltd (VIP).
Phil Bonar, New Partner Development and Recruitment Manager at NBG, added: “It’s been great working with the team at NMSB and we’re really excited to see their merchanting division go from strength to strength in the coming years. They’ve already embraced NBG’s values and will no doubt be a great asset to the group.”
