Brett Martin welcomed a group of National Buying Group merchant members from across the UK at its Mallusk manufacturing site in Northern Ireland.

Following a presentation on Brett Martin’s current initiatives, the merchants were given a tour of the company’s operations and witnessed products such as drainage pipes and fittings being made in its manufacturing facility.

The group also learned about the investment Brett Martin is making in reducing its carbon footprint and the tour included a walk past the 100m-tall wind turbine, which, together with a solar farm, contributes to 50% of the overall energy consumption on site.

Chris Dawson, Sales Director at Brett Martin, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome merchant members to our Mallusk facility. We believe success in the building materials market is all about people, and investing in relationships is important to us.

“Through NBG, we’ve been able to strengthen our ties to the independent merchant market and we look forward to continuing to provide members with superior products and excellent service.”

Following lunch, the members headed to the Titanic Visitor Centre in Belfast to about the vessel’s construction, its ill-fated maiden voyage and its place in history.

David Santi, Managing Director at McNair Building Supplies in Glasgow, commented: “It was great to meet everyone and see the factories in action. The visit to the Titanic Visitor Centre was very interesting and dinner in the Chairman’s Office at the Titanic Hotel finished off a perfect day with great food, lovely wine and in the company of friends.”
