The merchant's Benton site had outgrown itself so it purchased the adjoining 20,450 sq. ft. building.

Joseph Parr, one of North East England’s leading independent timber and builders' merchants, has just completed its £1 million pound investment into the north Tyneside area.

Joseph Parr (Middlesbrough) covers the North East area with two branches and a newly refurbished 4,000 sq. ft. showroom in Stockton on Tees.

Managing Director, David Anderson, said: "Our Benton site had outgrown itself and the opportunity to purchase the adjoining 20,450 sq. ft. building was an instant decision.

"We have now moved all timber products including sawn timber into the new shed offering our customers clean and dry wood throughout the year, something very few of our competitors can offer.

"The new layout enables us to provide lots more customer parking and also enables us to load and unload vehicles more efficiently."

The addition of the company's first electric forklift and the delivery of two out of five brand new wagons to the site are steps towards to Joseph Parr's ongoing carbon reduction programme.
