SUNDERLAND: A branch of Jewson has won a closely fought award and is attributing this success to the continued support of its customers in the local area.

Jewson Sunderland, in Southwick, was awarded the prize at the annual Jewson conference recently where, despite strong competition from other Jewson branches, it was named Large Branch of the Year 2010. The branch won the prize for being the highest performing within the area, having achieved a record level of sales.

The win comes following a busy year, after the branch was relaunched in April 2010 following the amalgamation of the Pallion branch with the larger branch in the Southwick area.

Branch manager Brian Hope, and his staff offer their thanks to customers within the local area who have continued to lend their support to the new extended branch and, without whom, the award win would not have been possible.

Dennis Scarth, Jewson area director, said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their support throughout 2010. We understand that although we have worked hard to keep the impact on our customers to a minimum, the merging of two branches into one larger facility inevitably causes some disruption, so we are grateful to all our customers, both existing and new, for their loyalty.”

The re-launched Jewson Sunderland benefits from larger premises, which has enabled the branch to extend its product line and offer a one-stop-shop for customers. The branch also has a large landscaping display and a good range of tools to hire or buy. As the UK’s largest timber importer, Jewson has a national network of branches that offer Chain of Custody certification for timber products. It guarantees that timber has been harvested legally and as part of an overall forest management system.
