The comedian will oversee the 21st iteration of an event that has built an unrivalled reputation as a celebration of the great and the good across the builders’ merchant sector.

Builders’ Merchants News is delighted to announce that the host of the 21st Builders’ Merchants awards, due to take place on Friday 25 November 2022, is comedian Jason Manford.

Manford – who is sponsored by GCS Associates – rose from eager amateur to Perrier nominee, and has become one of the UK’s hottest comic properties in just a few years.

Now one of the most popular presenters and performers in the country he has fronted peak time ITV shows including Comedy Rocks and Show Me The Funny, revealed his hidden operatic talents on Born To Shine and hosted BBC’s Live At The Apollo.

As a teenager, Manford was employed as a lowly pot collector at Manchester’s longest running comedy club when an act failed to turn up. Six gigs later he won the North West Comedian of the Year award. Next came the finals of Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny?, before a nomination for the top Edinburgh Fringe award.

Manford has since made his name on shows including Channel 4’s Tonightly, and as a team captain in 8 Out Of 10 Cats, before a spell as co-host on The One Show

He has appeared on panel shows including Would I Lie to You?, QI, A League of Their Own, and Have I Got News For You. He has turned his hand to acting, with TV roles in Death in Paradise and Ripper Street, and on stage in Sweeny Todd, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and The Producers.

Live, Manford’s ‘man-of-the-people’ personality and charm has won over audiences across the country – as demonstrated by a sell-out tour spanning 18 months at London’s O2.

The Builders’ Merchants awards – which return to the stunning Park Plaza near Westminster Bridge in London – will once again welcome more than 800 people from the industry’s most respected companies.

The industry’s longest running awards ceremony offer the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the amazing people, teams, projects and innovations within the sector. A panel of 17 esteemed judges will choose the award’s finalists and ultimately the winners of the 24 categories in the running this year.
