h&b member Youngs Timber and Builders Merchants is investing in a successful future with new delivery vehicles that are greener, more versatile and efficient than ever before. This is part of the company’s positive plans for continued success for its Kent operations.
Youngs has been an established part of the Kent community serving the building trade and DIY customers from its depots at Dymchurch, Biddenden, and Folkestone. The company is family owned and run and, despite difficult trading conditions due to Covid-19, has seen successful business growth at its three branches.
“The new trucks, quite apart from being more efficient and green than any we have run before, are an indication of our confidence in the business morning forward,” said Young’s Joint MD John Levitt.
“2020 and moving into 2021 has been challenging for Youngs like every other business. As a family-run independent merchant we are agile and responsive to change and believe it is vital that we invest in our business and empower our teams to grow and thrive. We are really positive about the future of the Youngs business moving forward.”
Youngs has invested in two new trucks – DAF 16-ton and Mercedes 26-ton – both with remote control cranes to make loading and unloading not only quicker and easier but also more flexible for customers.
h&b is a truly national merchant buying group with sales of £1 billion a year though its growing membership of independent builders merchants.
108 h&b merchant members with more than 285 branches are trading in partnership with around 280 suppliers. h&b offers its merchant members a real opportunity to improve profitability and grow market share by being part of the most progressive buying group in the UK.
