BLACKPOOL: Independent merchant, Chadwicks, has appointed Steve Hanson to the role of general manager.

In a role that has significant responsibility, taking charge of eight distinct departments and 50 staff members, Mr Hanson, said the company, is the ideal candidate for the job. He has 22 years of industry experience.

Mr Hanson worked his way up from roles in the yard and, while holding various roles within Jewson, including branch manager and area director, he gained in-depth knowledge and experience of the merchant sector.

"Chadwicks is a lot larger than your average builders' merchant and has very separate departments with real knowledge and expertise in its area," Mr Hanson commented. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of working with a large team and drawing on everyone's specialist experience to create a strong and cohesive workforce.

"The history and reputation of Chadwicks is a core part of its identity and this is reinforced by our 'time served' staff who know their customers well," he added.

"A key part of my role will be to ensure that we are sourcing product that is relevant to our local trade professionals, whilst offering the same quality and value we have always been known for."
