ORPINGTON: An entrepreneurial member of staff at Benchmarx Kitchens and Joinery in Orpington has launched a specialist door and flooring centre, offering local tradesmen a valuable new service.

The new centre opened on March 7 at the branch in Murray Road and provides a one-stop shop for tradesman with products, service and advice.

Neil Grigg, branch manager at Benchmarx Kitchens and Joinery in Orpington, came up with the idea after realising that an empty space in the branch could be used more efficiently to put the brand’s full range on display.

“I’m really pleased with it and it looks fantastic,” said Mr Grigg who thinks the new centre will give the company the edge over their competitors.

“Our main offering here is kitchens, but we wanted to offer tradesmen a complete one-stop shop so they have everything they need to complete a project in one place,” said Mr Grigg.

“Doors and flooring have always been my passion, so I was really keen to open a new centre offering the kind of products fitters and tradespeople require on a day-to-day basis. Hopefully from this, we will be the first name they remember when it comes to fitting a kitchen too.”

Mr Grigg approached Benchmarx’s regional director with his proposal and soon won the support of the brand’s managing director too, before working with the project team to bring his designs to life.

Mr Grigg’s background spans a diverse range of roles in the DIY and Building Trade industry, having worked in various positions from kitchen designer to contract sales manager to his current position as branch manager.
