BRISTOL: Burdens – the UK supplier of civil engineering and building materials to the construction, infrastructure and environmental markets – has formed a strategic partnership with Midland Construction Supplies (MCS).
Under the terms of the agreement, MCS products will be available from Burdens 50-depot UK and Ireland distribution network and backed by the Group's established sales and technical support.
MCS specialises in products for concreting contractors, construction companies and civil engineering companies to facilitate the reinforcement of concrete.
To enable it to support Burdens national coverage and improve its capabilities as a national specialist distributor, MCS intends to add to its existing locations in Wolverhampton, London, Wales and Scotland by opening two further depots.
The new partnership follows three years during which MCS has been a tenant at Burdens Picketts Lock depot operating a sales and distribution facility. This close working relationship revealed an opportunity for both businesses to attack a significant market by working strategically together, thereby enhancing their respective capabilities. All Burdens depots will hold core stocks of MCS products providing truly nationwide availability.
Commenting on the new partnership, MCS managing director Phil McDonald, said "We are confident that working together with Burdens will be mutually beneficial and, more importantly, provide a valuable additional service to the construction industry".
