Builders’ Merchant Company Ltd is pleased to announce the completion of a management buyout, and the appointment of 2 new directors to further enhance the management team.
Builders’ Merchant Company ltd is the largest independent Builders’ Merchant in the Lincolnshire and Humber region. BMC has grown steadily over the last 4 years, and now has 4 branches, with a projected turnover in 2021 of circa £12 million.
The MBO heralds a new era for Builders’ Merchant Company. This has provided the appropriate structure to make possible future growth plans a reality for the management team and staff.
The new Board would like to thank Mr George Jewitt, Managing Director of the previous holding company, Glenrock, for his dedication in the past years as the principal shareholder in BMC. George is remaining a shareholder within the company his grandparents started. George added “I am pleased the reigns of BMC are in the safe hands of Duncan and Jane, and the new holding company, Thomson Building Supplies Ltd, and I am sure it will go from strength to strength.”
The new shareholders, are existing Managing Director, Duncan Thomson, and Financial Director , Jane Thomson, a husband and wife team, who have headed the operational role for the last 11 years. Duncan and Jane have appointed 2 new directors.
Steve Quigley the BMC Regional Operational Manager accepted the position of Operations Director. Steve began with the company 6 years ago, as Branch Manager Hull, and has developed strongly over the years, and well deserving of this position.
Non – Executive Director David Hewitt has accepted the role of Chairman, and brings with him a wealth of experience from the business world and will help to support the management teams’ future growth strategy.
Commenting on the plans for future, Duncan and Jane said “We have always wanted our own business, and here we are after many years of hard work, this is now a reality. Our strategy has been a minimum for 5 branches in five years and we are currently identifying a number of opportunities and developments for us to explore in the near future. Exciting times ahead!
