Bradfords has launched its 2024 fundraising campaign for Movember with the help of England Rugby Player Henry Slade.

This year’s campaign, titled “MoBros”, includes announcing the signing of Exeter Chiefs RFC and England Rugby Player, Henry Slade, by Bradfords' fundraising team.

Bradfords is hoping to exceed the success of its 2021 campaign, which saw the merchant raise £17,000, placing the organisation in the UK’s top 20 fundraisers alongside nationwide brands such as Barclays and Amazon.

A video accompanying the campaign sees Henry Slade sign to the Bradfords Movember Fundraising Team, “MoBros”, as team captain, to launch the month of fundraising activity across the 46 Bradfords branches. This will include exclusive MoBros merchandise available in-branch with all proceeds going to Movember. A 24 hour cyclothon at Bradfords’ Branch Support Centre in Yeovil is also in planning.

Bradfords’ support for Movember aligns with wider commitments made across the business to support the mental and physical health of employees, communities and the wider trades, from mental health training for staff to the annual Miles for Smiles campaign, which has united staff across the region.

Across the UK and worldwide men’s health is in crisis, with one in eight men receiving a prostate cancer diagnosis in their life, 12,000 deaths in the UK each year, and one man dying by suicide every minute of every day.

By supporting Movember and bringing together partners and suppliers, Bradfords can contribute towards addressing this crisis in our communities.

MoBros Chairman and Bradfords’ CEO David Young said: “We’re proud to be a partner to Movember and to help raise crucial funds supporting men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer.

“The sorts of issues Movember campaign on directly impact our core trade audience - they matter to them, and they matter to us.

“Henry’s signing, alongside branch fundraising plans up and down the region, sends a clear message to our competition - that when it comes to taking care of the trades, we’re ready to compete at the highest level."

MoBros Captain Henry Slade added: “I can’t wait to join the team and start growing something special. In raising awareness and supporting innovations for testicular and prostate cancer, and giving mental health the focus it so desperately deserves, the team know they’re making a huge difference not only in the South West, but up and down the country too"
