LONDON: B&Q is investing a further £25 million within the building products aisles of its store and online providing a further boost for tradesmen following major investment in TradePoint earlier this year.
This is the biggest change to this category since B&Q opened and its joinery, power tools, hand tools, electrical and plumbing aisles all receiving a makeover during the coming months with over 4000 new products being launched across the building category.
The investment builds on the £26m spent in March of this year to roll out its TradePoint business to over 100 stores by late summer. The opening programme is on track and 74 TradePoints have already been opened to date.
From the end of July B&Q’s joinery shop will offer a range of over 1200 doors making it the largest retailer of doors in the UK and the largest stocked stair case range in the UK. They will also offer a specialist timber cutting service in 147 stores.
Ranges in power tools and hand tools will be refreshed in the Autumn including the launch of a new exclusive range of JCB power and hand tools, storage, tool boxes, work wear and clothing ranges cementing B&Q’s position as the UK’s number one power tool retailer.
The electrical aisles will also be revived from the Autumn with new switches and sockets and an exclusive range of Siemens room control solutions which enable homeowners to remotely operate security, heating and lighting controls in their homes.
The plumbing aisles will house the launch of the new ‘designer radiator world’ launching in 60 of the largest stores and online with over 600 designs available.
