LEICESTER: UK plumbing and heating company BSS Group is expecting profit to be in line with market estimates and a further strengthening of its financial position in the current year.

BSS said its revenue for the 19-week period from 1 October 2009 to 10 February 2010 was in line with its expectations at £473.4m in spite of the tough market conditions. The company expected revenue for the rest of the year to continue "to show resilience".

Like-for-like revenue, excluding the impact of new branches and acquisitions, was 2.1% below last year, the company said.

BSS also said it was pursuing new revenue streams to offset the expected reduction in public sector activity beyond the current financial year.

The company was focusing on margin recovery as it believed that price conditions were showing signs of stabilising.
