The BMF has nominated two charity partners for 2025. The trade body will be raising money for the children’s charity Variety, and The Educational Frontier Trust (TEFT).
Variety works to improve the lives of UK children and young people who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. Variety was last chosen as BMF’s charity partner in 2018, when the funds raised by the BMF and the Vado Rally helped to buy a new Sunshine Coach enabling children they support to access regular events, days out and holidays.
TEFT provides funding for the educational needs of marginalised and vulnerable children in Kenya, including the Kisima School, a residential school for 160 children. The charity is close to BMF CEO John Newcomb’s heart. He has personally supported TEFT for 11 years and earlier this year was appointed to the charity’s Board of Trustees.
The announcement of next year’s partners follows a year of fundraising for the Lighthouse Charity, which works to reduce construction workforce suicides and improve industry welfare and wellbeing. To date, the BMF has raised £22,250 for the Lighthouse Charity through collections, raffles and auctions at major events, including its recent Annual Members Conference and Awards Dinner, which raised £2,750 for the Maddie Rose Campaign.
John Newcomb said: “Our thanks to all those whose generosity has helped us to raise significant sums for this year’s charitable causes.
“Looking forward, both of our charity partners for 2025 fund and deliver life-changing programmes that give children and young people a better future and enable them to reach their full potential. Fundraising with our members will help them to continue their invaluable work.”
