An appeal has been launched by the UK's Disasters Emergency Committee to help hundreds of thousands of people affected by the earthquakes that recently hit the two countries.
More than 18,000 people have died and that number is expected to rise even higher over the next few days. Thousands of buildings including people's homes have been completely destroyed leaving many families without shelter in freezing winter conditions. Meanwhile responders are searching through remaining rubble for survivors.
Funds are urgently needed to support families money raised will go towards medical aid, emergency shelter, food and clean water.
A dedicated Just Giving Page has been set up by the BMF and First Event to help raise vital funds.
As of Friday afternoon (10 February) more than £5,500 of a £10,000 target had already been donated.
