Last year saw significant growth in notifications of replacement window and door installations in domestic properties, according to FENSA.

FENSA is a competent persons scheme for the installation of replacement windows, doors and roof-lights in domestic properties. It reported that 2013 ended on a high, with notifications up 25% on December 2012. The last quarter of the year was up 5.7% on the same period in 2012 after a flat October (+0.5%) and decline in November (-3.3%).

This was the third consecutive quarter of growth – the first time this has been achieved since FENSA began collating installation numbers. However, the total number of installations for 2013 was 702,495 – still down 27% on the figure for 2007.

Eight months saw increased installations in 2013 over the same month in the previous year:

2013

April +11.3%

May +2.9%

June +12%

July +9.9%

August +5.5%

September +13.2%

October +0.5%

December +25.2%

“FENSA is very pleased to report these far more encouraging installation figures for our industry,” said managing director Chris Mayne. “Though we need to remember that installations are still well down on their highest point back in 2007, the industry is now going in the right direction which we fervently hope will continue through 2014. In these releases we refer back to pre-recession levels of notifications – but our focus is on the market today and going forward.”
