Independent business merchants, Mersey Building Supplies (MBS), has secured a two-year framework agreement with Heyrod Construction with a value of £1m.

The business is based on Larch Lea Industrial Estate in Anfield, Liverpool.

Manchester-based contractor Heyrod Construction is currently on site at five major schemes in Liverpool including APEX2 (a Liverpool University academic building), Hatton Gardens (a second Liverpool University site providing accommodation), The New Royal Liverpool Hospital, a new docklands Exhibition Centre and Sefton Street Block 4 (a privately owned development).

MBS are supplying Heyrod with ladders, towers and working at height equipment, sand and cement, nails, cutting saws and blades.

Carl Oates, sales director of MBS said: “This is a fantastic contract win for us. We have had huge belief in our business concept and felt that Liverpool was crying out for a local sites supplies and builders merchants, with the professionalism and standards of service expected of a national chain. We can offer this and Heyrod have confirmed their confidence in us by committing to this partnership.”

Paul Hamlett, plant amd purchasing manager at Heyrod, added: “Working locally is critical for us. We operate under strong sustainable principles and that applies to our suppliers. MBS not only provides a great local service but they can offer prices comparative or indeed better to those offered by many of the UK’s leading national merchants. We’re pleased to be able to collaborate with them in Merseyside and look forward to working with them on a broader basis as they roll new branches out across the North West”.
