Trafford Housing Trust and Travis Perkins have officially opened a new joint distribution facility at Trafford Park in Greater Manchester.

The new 6,000 sq ft unit will stock over 1,500 product lines and will supply materials, tools and accessories to support the Trust’s repairs & maintenance service through a delivery service ‘direct to site’ rather than being a traditional collection depot.

Trafford Housing Trust is currently responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of over 9,000 properties across Trafford, a borough of Greater Manchester.

The distribution centre will also be utilised by Trafford Housing Trust’s Handy Fix initiative – a commercial repairs service available to non-tenants.

Tony McMahon, Trafford Housing Trust’s contracts manager, said of the new distribution centre: “Trafford Housing Trust aims to deliver a repairs and maintenance service that is of the highest standard in terms of quality and efficiency. Vital to this is a procurement supply chain process that delivers a range of materials to suit the Trust’s property types both quickly and effectively."

Ian Church, managing director of Travis Perkins Group Managed Services, said: “At Travis Perkins we strive to come up with tailored solutions to meet client needs and this initiative with Trafford Housing Trust is a great example of joint working. We’re also proud that our company name will adorn Trafford Housing’s fleet of repair vehicles, and we look forward to supporting the Trust as their maintenance partner as we go forward.”

Travis Perkins was awarded the contract, which runs until 2018, after a competitive tender process.
