Lafarge Tarmac has launched a new competition to celebrate the great work of builders' merchants.

The competition aims to recognise the UK's number one merchant that exemplifies the best in customer service. It is open to all Lafarge Tarmac customers and will run until 30 September 2014. Once entries close, shortlisted merchants will receive a visit from a mystery shopper, who will then test their knowledge and helpfulness to decide who will take the 2014 crown. The winner will receive prizes including an evening out for their branch, as well as a trade counter trophy.

Lafarge Tarmac announced the competition in a new quarterly newsletter for merchants called In the Bag. The newsletter will share customer and industry insight and anyone who provides feedback on In the Bag will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to Wimbledon.

Mike Lomax, marketing communications manager for cement at Lafarge Tarmac, said: "Merchants provide an essential facility for the building industry and keep our nation's builders going. We're running the competition to champion and recognise the merchants that really excel. We're encouraging all our merchant customers to tell us why they deserve the accolade and look forward to some outstanding entries."

To enter the competition or to provide feedback on In the Bag, go to www.packedcement.co.uk before 30 September, 2014.
