Martin Mansfield, commercial manager of independent merchants’ group h&b, and Michelle Cronje and Bernie Bates from the NMBS, recently arranged nearly 1,800 ‘dates’ between h&b members and suppliers at three special ‘Supplier Business Development’ days.

The event at Daventry was exclusively for heating and plumbing suppliers, and indicated the growing development of plumbing and heating within the group.

Overall, 64 teams of merchants attended the events, and were ‘wooed’ by 196 teams of suppliers. As well as the 16 formal 20-minute meetings each day, there were further opportunities to network over lunch and after proceedings finished.

h&b chairman Peter Buttle was present at the events to meet members and suppliers.
