Marie Curie Cancer Care is to receive a welcome fundraising boost after being chosen as the national 2014 charity partner for leading UK heating and hot water manufacturer, Baxi.

Baxi has pledged to give support to the charity, which provides care for those with terminal illnesses, and has set a fundraising target of £50,000 for 2014. The charity was chosen as Baxi's official partner after an employee vote.

Throughout 2014, Baxi employees will help to raise money for the charity, give up their time to volunteering for projects, and get involved in fundraising campaigns.

Paul Hardy, managing director of Baxi, said: "To be fundraising for such a worthy cause means a great deal to everyone at Baxi and we look forward to getting involved with the exciting fundraising activities. We hope to raise a significant amount of money this year which will make a huge difference to Marie Curie and everyone who benefits from their care."

Arun Sharma, head of corporate at Marie Curie, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have been chosen by Baxi's employees as their charity partner. All of us at Marie Curie are looking forward to working on what is set to be a fantastic partnership and we can’t wait to see all of the wonderful ways Baxi employees raise money for Marie Curie. All the money raised as part of the partnership will enable us to continue providing free care to those approaching the end of their life, either at home or in one of our nine hospices."

Marie Curie provides high quality nursing care and emotional support to people with any terminal illness in their own homes or in one of its nine hospices. All Marie Curie services are completely free of charge to patients, their families and carers.

Baxi is committed to supporting local communities as part of its CSR programme and continues to support local charities.
