Plumb Center welcomes Help To Buy bathrooms boost
Published: 08 January, 2014
Plumb Center has welcomed the positive impact that the first phase of the Help To Buy scheme has made to the newbuild housing market.
The company expects to see a growth in sales of bathroom products over the next few months, thanks to the second phase of Help To Buy, which was rolled out in October 2013.
It is widely recognised that people looking to move or actually moving house are key instigators of building and plumbing work in the home. Although the number of people moving house is currently just over half of the 155,000 per month at the pre-recession peak, Help To Buy is forecast to stimulate a rise to around 120,000 per month next year. This rise in the number of house movers and an increase in the number of people buying a house rather than renting should help to grow sales for installers.
Julie McLean, Plumb Center’s head of marketing, said: “We welcome the Help To Buy initiative and hope that installers will swiftly start seeing its effects in increased sales.”
