Linde saves Christmas in Glasgow

Structural company The Structure Group has benefited from using a Linde Material Handling (UK) forklift truck on a short-term hire basis to support the creation of a temporary ice rink in Glasgow.
The Structure Group (TSG) is a specialist in providing temporary facilities for global sporting and public events. Planning major events for clients such as the London Olympic Committee, Peugeot, Sony and Glasgow City Council can result in the construction of complex structures, which require specialist equipment on an ad-hoc basis.
Building the Christmas Event Arena at George Square in Glasgow required a need for a temporary ice rink and supporting structures to be lifted. Linde’s short-term hire offering came to the rescue to support the production of this large ice rink.
Phil Harris, general manager for TSG, commented: “The 16-ton truck Linde supplied has been a real asset. The fact that we can pick up the phone and get the equipment we need at short notice really takes the stress out of planning events and provides huge added value by reducing build and removal times.
“Since the event last year, TSG has used Linde Forklift Truck Hire for many projects, saving us both money and time in situations where cranes had previously been required.”
Mark Sullivan, head of used and rental at Linde, commented: “Having the largest capability of trucks in the industry means we can react to situations quickly and deliver a high-specification bespoke solution to meet our customers’ needs, whether they are looking for extra capacity for a week or for several months.”
Linde has been developing its forklift truck hire service over the last 20 years.
