Dedicated to making a difference to the lives of children, F & P Wholesale employees have taken to both the skies and the streets within the past month to raise money for the company’s nominated charity – Whizz-Kidz.

The national wheelchair charity, Whizz-Kidz, aims to help kids to be kids by providing powered and manual wheelchairs, skills training, and fun clubs to young disabled people – meaning everyone can lead active, independent and fun lives.

F & P Wholesale has been a longstanding supporter of Whizz-Kidz. During the past two years, through sponsored and fundraising events, a total of £35,000 has been raised and latest activities organised by F & P Wholesale employees have been a sky dive and a 10 mile walk.

Thrill seekers Richard Birch, F & P Wholesale key account manager and Ray Selwood, warehouse supervisor at the West Midlands distribution centre, both took part in the sky dive during September in Peterborough. Sponsorship of more than £2,000 encouraged the two employees to take a leap out of the plane at 13,000 feet, knowing that they were supporting such a worthy cause.

In addition, a group of enthusiastic employees from F & P Wholesale took to the streets of London on 11 October in support of the Whizz-Kidz Neon Nightwalk fundraising event. Staff members from Connections by F & P Wholesale and merchant customer WMI Simpsons of Finchley, London also got involved with the walk. The entire team embraced the neon theme by dressing in brightly coloured clothing for the event.

The fundraising walk is now in its third year and sees hundreds of supporters pound the pavements of London over a 10 mile stretch taking in some of the capital's brightest landmarks at night, while raising money for this important charity.

Jed Kenrick, Managing Director at F & P Wholesale and participant in the

Whizz-Kidz Neon Nightwalk, said: “It is fantastic to see how many F & P Wholesale employees take the time and energy to organise and take part in fundraising events for such an inspirational charity. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts so far and will always encourage and support anyone who wants to take on a challenge in the name of such a worthy cause.

“There are thousands of disabled young people in the UK currently waiting for the right wheelchairs for them. By raising as much money as we possibly can during the course of the year, we hope to be able to make a real contribution toward helping Whizz-Kidz get the right equipment to the right children as quickly as possible.

“Both the sky dive and Neon Nightwalk are great challenges to undertake for this truly deserving cause and we encourage everyone to continue supporting the teams on their Just Giving pages.”
