Worshipful Company of Builders' Merchants' (WCoBM) honorary member Fiona Woolf CBE was elected to become the new Lord Mayor of London on 30 September.

Ms Woolf will be the city's 686th Lord Mayor and only the second woman to achieve this office in the institution's almost 800-year history. She will also be the fourth honorary member of the WCoBM to be Lord Mayor. During her mayoral year she will be an ambassador for the city, spending at least three months of the year promoting the UK financial services industry in overseas markets.

Liverymen were summoned to appear at the Guildhall for Ms Woolf’s election, with many from WCoBM attending to offer their support.

Ms Woolf will become Lord Mayor at a 'Silent Ceremony' on 8 November. Official celebrations in the city take place the following day, when Ms Woolf will leave the Mansion House and be driven in the Gold State Coach to the Royal Courts of Justice to swear an oath of allegiance to the Crown.
