Nicholls & Clarke acquires Colchester Tile Supplies

Published:  09 October, 2013

Nicholls & Clarke has announced that it has acquired Colchester Tile Supplies.

The business has been trading for 25 years as a distributor and retailer from its premises in Colchester, Essex.

Colchester Tile Supplies has a fleet of eight commercial lorries distributing throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and London. The company will now benefit from increasing its stock levels significantly with an investment into a new tile and bathroom showroom.

As well as the continuation of all existing tile ranges, customers of Colchester Tile Supplies will benefit from an extended portfolio of tile collections catered to all project types, with access to an additional £10m worth of stock.

Following the acquisition, the synergies between the two businesses will enable Nicholls & Clarke to combine and strengthen its distribution network for customers; offering increased stock levels and an improved nationwide service from a fleet of over 110 commercial vehicles. The new move will increase the number of Nicholls & Clarke Tile and Bathroom showrooms to 16 nationwide.

The investment by the Nicholls & Clarke Group is the third acquisition of a tile business within the last three years. David Forbes, chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the assets of Colchester Tile Supplies. We look forward to working with its experienced team in taking the business forward with both its existing and new customers. Despite difficult trading conditions within the last few years, the Nicholls & Clarke Group has continued to expand and look for opportunities within the tile industry.”
