EH Smith strikes partnership with SolarWorld

EH Smith has become the first builders’ merchant in the UK to partner with photovoltaic manufacturer SolarWorld.
Based in Freiberg, Germany, SolarWorld controls the development of solar power technology from start to finish under its own roof, guaranteeing quality and supply at all times.
As well as supplying to private residential and commercial developments, EH Smith has worked with more than 30 housing associations to transform energy efficiency in public sector housing.
This dual expertise, combined with EH Smith’s broad customer networks and ability to offer either same-day collection - or next-day, nationwide delivery from its dedicated solar PV distribution centre in Birmingham – means that together EH Smith and SolarWorld are able to offer the market a trusted, expert partnership for high-quality solar panels.
John Cave, who leads EH Smith’s sustainable products division said: “In choosing PV technology customers are making a significant, long-term investment in the energy efficiency of their property and need to know they are selecting the best. Both SolarWorld and EH Smith place great emphasis on quality, service and attention to detail as well as on price and we are trusted for our experience and knowledge within this sector.
“Sourcing PV from Western Europe is unusual as most suppliers are based in the Far East, so this move has also helped us to reduce our own Co2 footprint by 46.08 tonnes, through shipping alone.”
Scott McDaniel, UK brand development and country manager for SolarWorld, added: “SolarWorld AG relies on Germany as its centre of excellence, thereby ensuring sustainable product quality. What is apparent in our business partnership with EH Smith is that we have found a responsible, reliable, quality-orientated company who values the same ethos of delivering long-term solutions here in the UK.”
