Members of Derbyshire-based door distributor JB Kind recently decided to carry one of its wooden doors to the top of Snowdon to raise money for St Giles Hospice.
The team completed a nine-mile round trip to the top of Snowdon in 7.5 hours, carrying the 6ft 6in, 30kg door – aptly named a Snowdon door – from the company’s Montana range. They smashed the fundraising target of £4,000, managing to raise more than £5,000 in total.
JB Kind marketing manager and team member Tina Jones said: “Scaling Snowdon with our Snowdon door and the JB Kind team was amazing. We found out that we’re all pretty tough and we enjoyed beating our expected time, enduring the heat and pushing through the pain.
“We know that our trade partners, suppliers, merchants and many others have dug deep to find the money to sponsor our 30th anniversary fundraising celebration, our Snowdon Door Challenge, and we are hugely grateful.
“We couldn’t have achieved this without the generous donations from the trade, so please accept a big ‘thank you’ from us.”
JB Kind managing director James Cadman, who was also part of the team, added: “We all enjoyed the challenge of carrying the Snowdon up Snowdon and we are pleased to have been able to support St Giles Hospice. JB Kind is lucky to have excellent team spirit, and this event really illustrated how well we all work together.”
Helen Relihan, head of fundraising for St Giles Hospice, said: “What an amazing achievement by the team from JB Kind. To succeed in undertaking such a difficult challenge was a fantastic accomplishment in itself, but also to raise such a fantastic amount of money, shows what a great team of people they are. They should be very proud of themselves and their fundraising will really make a difference to the lives of local people living with cancer other serious illnesses.”
