Staff from Ensor Building Products were proud to present a cheque for £250 to Lancastrian Kingsman Anthony Cooper, 1st Battalion Duke of Lancashire Regiment, and Malcolm Smith MBE, chairman of SSAFA Lancashire.
Kingsman Anthony Cooper, 24, from Euxton, had been out on patrol with Anzio Company from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment in Helmand Province when a makeshift bomb exploded. He lost both his legs from the knee down, his right eye, two fingers, and also suffered brain damage.
The SSAFA is the oldest military charity, established in 1885. Its aims and objectives, laid down by Royal Charter and with HM Queen Elizabeth II as patron, are "To help and assist the Serving members of our Armed Forces, the Veteran and the families of both in their hour of greatest need".
The donation was made following an appeal from Mr Smith to sponsor the upcoming Military Wives Choir Event at Blackburn Cathedral on Saturday 28 September.
Philip Brooke, managing director of Ensor Building Products, said: “We were delighted to have been given the opportunity to help such a worthy cause which culminated in a visit from Kingsman Anthony Cooper.”
