Robert Price gets £70m Caerphilly housing contract

Published:  12 July, 2013

Robert Price Builders Merchants has signed a £70m 10-year contract with Caerphilly Council for work on its housing stock.

Robert Price will be responsible for managing the supply chain for products used in the modernisation of council houses, with new bathrooms, kitchens and other features set to be installed, as well as those used for improving community spaces and gardens. The merchant company will be the sole supplier of materials for the council’s in-house workforce.

“The contract is an exciting opportunity and is a significant boost to our business in South Wales," said Robert Price's sales director Malcolm Jones. "Robert Price is a family-run Welsh SME, which currently employs over 200 staff in its network of 18 branches, located from Swansea in the west to Chepstow in the east.”

Councillor Gerald Jones, deputy leader of Caerphilly council, added: “Using a single supplier will ensure standardisation of products and more efficient administration.”
