Plumbers and installers have welcomed the launch of a dedicated resource for expert advice and easy access to renewable energy products.

The Renewable Showroom opened at PTS Caerphilly on 23 May 2013 after an official ribbon-cutting by Jeff Cuthbert, Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology in the Welsh government and National Assembly member for Caerphilly, and Wayne David, Parliamentary MP for Caerphilly.

Customers, suppliers and representatives from the council eagerly attended the event to discover the complete range of renewable products on offer whilst viewing a number of working technologies in situ. A biomass boiler, two air to water heat pumps, an air to air heat pump and mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit have replaced traditional electric systems to heat the branch and demonstrate the benefits of choosing energy-efficient options.

The opening ceremony formed one of the events in a week-long celebration full of activities from a day dedicated to training and the Green Deal to ‘meet and greet’ sessions with leading manufacturers.

Lee Darby, PTS Caerphilly branch manager, said: “We’re over the moon with the fantastic response from customers and notable names in the community. Renewable energy continues to be a hot topic in the heating and plumbing industry – the showroom has been designed to provide a facility for installers to come for training or product support, as well as being somewhere to view the products.”

The PTS Renewable Showrooms and the Renewable Energy Branch at Aylesford, Kent are supported by a UK-wide renewables sales team and a dedicated function based at PTS House in Crick, Northamptonshire. A Renewables Design Service was launched earlier this year to deliver complete projects in partnership with installers, from specification to installation, with ongoing technical support.
