JOSB Done has announced the dates of the final two stops of its Points on the Board tour, which sees builders from across the country pit their football skills against an 8ft by 4ft oriented strand board (OSB) panel.

The nation-wide competition will head to Travis Perkins Crewe on 19 June, before rounding off proceedings at Travis Perkins Gloucester on 23 July.

The contestant topping the table at the end of the five-date tour will receive £1,000-worth of tools. Aside from football, those taking part are able to chat to the JOSB Done team about the benefits of OSB. All participants also receive a free breakfast and ‘Tough B***d’ t-shirt.

With events already completed at Travis Perkins branches in Walsall, Northampton and Banbury, the scores are tight at the top of the table. Calin Vaida of JND Property Maintenance, Northampton, is currently in the lead with a score of 30 points. Yet with both the Crewe and Gloucester events still to take place, the top prize is by no means secure.

Alastair Kerr, director general for the Wood Panels Industry Federation and spokesperson for the JOSB Done campaign, commented: “The Points on the Board Tour events have been a real success. The JOSB Done team has received some incredibly positive responses from both merchants and customers, with the level of engagement far surpassing anything we have previously witnessed.

“Given both the cost-effectiveness and strength of OSB, it’s no wonder that we’re receiving such a ringing endorsement from those in the know.”

Now in its eighth year championing the benefits of OSB, JOSB Done is supported by manufacturers Norbord and SmartPly, resin supplier Huntsman and the Wood Panels Industry Federation.

JOSB Done has also launched its search for the OSB Apprentice of the Year 2013. Now in its second year, the competition puts apprentices’ carpentry and building skills to the test, as well as showcasing the versatility of OSB, with a head-to-head competition between the three finalists taking place in Ireland later this summer.
