The Thanet branch of Chandlers Building Supplies was a proud sponsor of East Kent College’s recent Skilled Up competition, which saw students from across the construction department complete a work-related challenge in six hours.

More than 40 students took part in the competition and were judged by tutors from Canterbury College.

The students placed first, second and third from each trade and were rewarded with toolboxes and tools from Chandlers and fellow sponsor Makita. The winners listed below now go on to the Kent finals of Skilled Up, which take place in June.

  • Gavin Morgan – Level 2 Bricklaying
  • Matt Sutton – Level 2 Plastering
  • Ethan Bartlett – Level 2 Painting & Decorating
  • Aron Thornton – Level 2 Site Carpentry.

John Rose, Thanet branch manager at Chandlers Building Supplies, commented: “We are always delighted to be involved with the Kent Skilled Up competition as it gives the students a chance to put their skills to the test in a ‘real’ situation. Good luck at the Kent finals to all the winners from East Kent College.”
