Wolseley is planning redundancies at the former Burdens business it bought for £30m last Autumn.

Wolseley purchased 22 sites from the drainage and civil engineering supplier before the rest of Burdens went into administration and 554 Burdens staff transferred to Wolseley.

A Wolseley UK spokesperson said: “Proposals to restructure the Burdens business and create a sustainable and efficient operating model have been announced. Regrettably, our proposed structure may impact up to 200 employees and we have begun consulting with those potentially affected.”

The news came as Wolseley reported flat revenues and margins at its UK operation for the half year to January 31 2013. Turnover in the UK was steady at £853m from £850m last time, with trading profit up to £45m from £44m.
