Jewson has won the Award for Energy at the Sustain Awards this month for its new web-based gas control system, which has allowed the builders’ merchant to significantly reduce energy use across its sites.

Almost 350 people gathered for the celebrations at the prestigious Guoman Tower Bridge Hotel, London on Tuesday 5 March and enjoyed a terrific presentation by Alistair McGowan.

Now in its fifth year, the Sustain Awards are designed to celebrate the high hopes and hard work, commitment and creativity, radicalism and rigour, inspiration and perspiration of all those achieving distinction and success in the field of Sustainability.

Rod Leigh, director for sustainability at Jewson, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised at the Sustain Awards 2013. The implementation of our new web-based gas control system is the latest in a long line of innovative initiatives designed to help us reduce our environmental impact.

The web-based gas control system monitors external and internal temperatures and controls all aspects of our in-branch heating systems meaning that all of our sites are now visible and adjustable enabling us to significantly reduce our energy costs.”

Sustain’ Magazine organised the event in association with Marshalls and sponsors Land Securities, Galliford Try Partnerships, Carillion, Rexel and Society for the Environment.
