COVENTRY: 2013 promises to be another challenging year, with changes to legislation, as ever, impacting upon the way businesses are run and government initiatives influencing market trends. With the launch of the Green Deal in October and two new pieces of legislation coming into effect next year, these will change the way merchants buy, stock, and sell building materials.

BMF Members’ Day has a reputation for informed and challenging guest speakers and this year is no different. Our expert speakers will provide you with the information you need and give you the opportunity in syndicate sessions to ask your questions.

CE Marking of building products becomes mandatory next July and will be the most significant change in a decade in the way construction materials are sold. This will have a big impact on the way merchants operate and the responsibilities that lie with you as stockists and distributors. It’s imperative that you are aware of this and ready for it.

New European Timber Regulations (EUTR) come into effect in March. Any merchants buying, stocking, and selling timber or timber products will be affected by it and must make sure they are trading legally.

One month to go before the Green Deal! Do you know enough about it?

Hear what the BMF has been doing and how merchants can actually benefit from the Government’s Green Deal. What are the opportunities and implications for our supply chain.

Renowned economist David Smith, economics editor of the Sunday Times, is our economist speaker this year and will be giving his views on Prospects in an age of Instability and where he sees the UK and European economies going in the next 12-18 months and how the building sector will be affected.

John Newcomb, managing director of BMF, will be giving his vision for the BMF in the future going forward and is looking forward to meeting as many of our members as possible.

This is just a taste of what the day will include. Read the brochure (click here) for the full programme and complete the booking form fast before places are sold out.
